Public Presentation – Crossroads of Conflict: Frederick County in the Civil War and Reconstruction

Program Description:

In this presentation, we will discuss how the Civil War and Reconstruction reshaped the history of Frederick County, Maryland.

We will talk about not only the battles that ravaged the region from 1861 to 1865, but also stories of the tectonic political, economic, and societal shifts that accompanied civil war and its aftermath.

Stories of local residents, enslaved and free, document how the conflict impacted the region and its people.

The program will also highlight the importance of Reconstruction across Maryland and its role in Frederick County’s history.
