A historical photograph showcasing the Mansion House Hotel, alongside the Schuylkill River and canal in Mount Carbon, Pennsylvania, with surrounding hills and buildings in the background.

This small town, located just south of Pottsville on the south side of Sharp Mountain, served as an important transportation link between Schuylkill County and the coal fields to the north and the communities southward along the Schuylkill Canal and, later the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad.

The once elegant hotel at the gateway to Pottsville was torn down in 1930.
