What’s for dinner?
This advertisement and bill of fare was published by restauranteur John Silver in Pottsville’s Miners’ Journal newspaper throughout the summer of 1838.
Silver’s restaurant, or “refectory,” was located on the lower floor of Pottsville’s renowned Pennsylvania Hall hotel on Centre Street in the Schuylkill County seat.
You could also get a bottle of wine, liquor, or beer to go along with the meal, though it appears that Coal Region brewed beer wasn’t on the menu.
