Newspaper headlines across Pennsylvania’s Coal Region announce the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor | December 1941

The following are the newspaper headlines that reported to the citizens of Pennsylvania’s anthracite coal fields that the United States had been attacked at its bases on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

In the days that followed, thousands of young men and women enlisted in the fight against fascism across the globe. The United States had finally formally entered the Second World War.
