A rare photograph of Shamokin’s East End in the 19th century

We recently made a new addition to our collection of Coal Region historical material!

This excellent stereoscopic image shows Shamokin, Pennsylvania in the 19th century.

The image was printed by George Washington Woodward, a photographer in Rochester, New York. It was one in a series of such images made in the vicinity of the Shamokin area in the 1870s.

We are excited to welcome this image into our growing collection! As we continue to add items to our collection, we will make them available here at Wynning History.
