This program at the Schuylkill County Historical Society will examine the war-time experiences of Schuylkill County native and World War II veteran Irvin Schwartz.

The program will be centered around the letters Schwartz, a veteran of the US Army’s famed 1st Division, wrote to his hometown newspaper from 1943 to 1945. The West Schuylkill Press-Herald published more than 50 letters from the Pine Grove-area soldier describing his war-time experiences. The letters were the subject of an online history project called “Letters from War.”

You can find all the letters here: https://wynninghistory.com/letters-from-war-wwii/

The program will take place on June 8th at 6:30PM. The program is free for Historical Society members and $5 for non-members.
